WHAT WE EXPECT FROM A COOL DATA WAREHOUSE DEVELOPER?
You must be highly proficient in at least one of the following AND have basic proficiency in most of the following OR have good proficiency in most of the following:
TASK: Implement third-party tools/frameworks instead/in addition.
SKILL REQUIRED:
know-how in some of the following:
- data orchestration: Apache Airflow/Luigi/Dagster;
- DBT;
- Vertica/Snowflake/TimescaleDB/Clickhouse;
- AWS/Google Cloud/Azure;
- any other DWH-related tool/framework.
TASK: Data design for analytical purposes.
SKILL REQUIRED:
good understanding of the following:
- SQL;
- dimensional design;
- star schema;
- slowly changing dimensions;
- late arriving;
- dimensions;
- snowflake schema;
- 3NF.
TASK: ETL tool programming, improve existing custom Python ETL kernel, rewrite services from Python to Node.js.
SKILL REQUIRED:
- Python/Node.js.
TASK: DBA, partition tables, find inefficient tables and queries, optimize inefficient tables and queries, manage access roles, database maintenance.
SKILL REQUIRED:
good understanding of the following:
- how the data is stored internally inside the database;
- transaction isolation;
- locks acquiring/releasing;
- difference between OLTP and OLAP;
- permissions.
LANGUAGE: Good spoken and written English.
