About the Role
We are looking for a Chief Accountant to establish and lead the company's accounting function, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local accounting standards, managing consolidated financial reporting for subsidiaries, and implementing robust financial controls. The position will also be responsible for hiring and leading the accounting team, ensuring operational efficiency and scalability.
This role is preferably based in Tartu, where the accounting team will be formed.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and develop the entire accounting function from the ground up, including financial processes, reporting structures, and compliance frameworks.
- Design and implement standardized accounting workflows, internal controls, and financial policies to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
- Build and lead the accounting team, including recruiting, onboarding, and managing finance professionals to support the company's financial operations.
- Set up and oversee the general ledger, month-end closing, and financial consolidation processes across all group companies, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, VAT reporting, and financial governance requirements, working closely with auditors and tax authorities.
- Develop and optimize the companys budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management processes to support business growth.
- Manage external audits and financial reporting requirements, ensuring that all documentation is prepared accurately and submitted on time.
- Continuously improve financial operations by identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable accounting solutions to support the companys expansion.
This role requires a hands-on approach, as the Chief Accountant will be responsible for both structuring and leading the accounting function while hiring and developing the team to ensure long-term operational success.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably in a multinational or high-growth company.
- Experience in multi-entity consolidation and financial control.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax regulations.
- Proven experience in setting up accounting workflows and financial processes.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and leadership skills.
- Fluency in English and Estonian.
