Lead Data Analyst, Rides Marketplace

Bolt

Job description

About Bolt

Bolt is shaping a future where cities are built for people, not cars. What started as an ambitious project of a 19-year-old in 2013 has grown into a global mobility platform used by more than 200 million customers and 4.5 million driver and courier partners across 50 countries.

From ride-hailing and food delivery to scooters, e-bikes, and car-sharing, Bolt helps people move through cities every day. Small, autonomous teams drive this work, combining the speed and ownership of a startup with the scale of a global technology company backed by more than €1bn in funding.

And we're just getting started.

Why join Bolt?

  • Build the future of mobility and help transform how people live and move in cities.

  • Tackle challenges at scale that span technology, operations, regulation, and growth.

  • Take real ownership early. Small, lean teams mean your decisions matter from day one, and you'll learn fast alongside some of the best people in the industry.

  • Join one of Europe's leading technology companies, backed by world-class investors including Sequoia.

About the role

Bolt Rides runs a two-sided marketplace where every change to pricing, incentives, supply or operations ripples through riders, drivers and unit economics. As Marketplace Lead Analyst, you will be the senior analytical voice for one or two operations teams. You will define which questions matter, work out what past changes actually delivered, and shape the decisions that follow. This is an individual contributor role with a wide scope and a lot of influence, and no direct reports.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Partner with one or two operations teams and their stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities, answer critical business questions, and turn the answers into data-driven recommendations. You set the analytical agenda with them rather than waiting for requests.

  • Use advanced causal inference, such as propensity scoring and synthetic control, to isolate the incremental impact of operational changes on our key KPIs, especially where a clean A/B test isn’t possible.

  • Propose, align on and implement experimentation strategies for complex initiative releases, including designs suited to marketplaces with network effects. You make the call on the right method and bring product and operations partners along.

  • Build deep-dive models that unlock step-change decisions: quantify the drivers, trade-offs and flywheel effects in our two-sided ridehailing marketplace.

  • Present findings and trade-offs to senior leadership, and help raise the analytical standard of the wider team by setting methodological best practice and mentoring analysts informally, through reviews, pairing and shared frameworks..

About you

  • Extensive experience in analytics or data science, including time at senior level, ideally in a marketplace, ridehailing, delivery, logistics or other two-sided business.

  • Deep, hands-on experience with causal inference (propensity methods, synthetic control, difference-in-differences) and sound judgment on when each is valid.

  • Experience designing and analysing experiments, including the limits of A/B testing under network effects and interference.

  • Strong SQL and Python (or R), and comfort working with large datasets.

  • Experience building models of marketplace dynamics (supply, demand, pricing, incentives) and explaining them to non-technical audiences.

  • A track record of owning ambiguous, high-impact problems end to end, and of changing decisions with senior operations or business stakeholders.

  • Experience guiding other analysts’ work through review, mentoring or setting standards. Formal people management is not required.

  • Experience with marketplace economics, pricing or incentive optimisation and experience defining team-wide analytical frameworks or methodology guidelines would be nice to have

Why you’ll love it here

  • Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.

  • Enjoy a rewarding salary and stock options, knowing that as Bolt succeeds, so do you.

  • Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.

  • Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.

  • Connect with colleagues at annual company events and smaller team gatherings.

  • Balance flexibility and in-person collaboration with our hybrid model, including at least 12 monthly in-office days.

Some perks may differ depending on your location and role.

Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don’t tick every box, please consider applying!
