What we're looking for
- BSc, MSc or PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or a related field.
- At least 2 years of hands-on laboratory or R&D experience, preferably in chemical synthesis, materials processing or process development.
- Experience in safe working practices involving chemicals and laboratory equipment.
- A practical and systematic approach to experimental work.
- Strong attention to detail and good experimental documentation habits.
- Ability to follow established procedures while also identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Willingness to combine routine process work with experimental R&D and troubleshooting.
- Fluent in English (B2 or higher equivalent). Estonian is not a requirement but a bonus.
Experience with carbon materials, graphene materials, hydrometallurgy, separation technologies or battery recycling is a strong advantage.
What You'll Do
This role combines R&D, laboratory process operation and optimisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Running wet-chemical synthesis, purification, washing and materials-processing procedures.
- Preparing raw materials, reagents and equipment for experimental and production batches.
- Operating laboratory equipment and monitoring key process parameters.
- Maintaining accurate experimental and batch documentation.
- Performing sample preparation and routine material characterization.
- Troubleshooting process and equipment issues
- Participating in experiments to improve process efficiency, reproducibility, material quality and throughput.
- Supporting scale-up from laboratory batches toward pre-pilot and pilot-scale processes.
- Contributing to laboratory procedures, SOPs and process documentation.
