CARIAD Estonia contributes to the mission of CARIAD with two core business areas – subsidiary management and IT operations team ensuring the performance and stability of digital services used by millions of Volkswagen brands` connected customers around the world. The IT Operations team at CARIAD Estonia ensures 24/7 on-desk support and quality assurance to digital services developed by CARIAD.

Our Site Reliability Engineers maintain software systems and automated solutions for operational aspects within the CARIAD organization. They are responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting and fixing services in the CARIAD system environment together with Operations Engineers to ensure excellent customer experience.

· Successfully completed studies in computer science or a comparable field.

· Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems, with the ability to read and understand code and algorithms and to debug and prove issues via code.

· Proficiency in Go (preferred, as our internal tooling is written in Go) and strong knowledge of Java and the JVM, sufficient to debug production issues during on-call.

· Deep understanding of programming runtimes and how memory allocation works under the hood (e.g. Go's garbage collector and goroutine scheduling, JVM heap, GC tuning), enabling you to troubleshoot memory leaks and runtime-level issues.

· Expertise in software design and architecture principles (e.g. Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, REST, SOAP, GraphQL, OOP, SOLID), giving you the ability to read and understand end-to-end architecture.

· Experience maintaining multi-tenant and multi-region infrastructure platforms, so you can provide high-quality support for the product teams which the platform is provided to

· Solid knowledge of modern DevOps release and development practices, such as trunk-based development, GitFlow, tag-based releases, semantic versioning, parallelized testing, Helm charts, templated/reusable pipelines, and secure management of pipeline secrets, as well as the ability to clearly explain the difference between CI and CD.

· Experience managing Amazon CloudFront or another CDN in a multi-product environment, including origins, cache behaviors, routing rules, and related configuration.

· Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, EKS) and monitoring and logging solutions such as Grafana, Elastic Stack, New Relic, or similar.

· Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, AWS CDK, or Bicep, along with expertise in Linux, networking, and security.

· Good knowledge of databases and SQL.

· The ability to optimize code and automate routine tasks.

· A strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to stay effective under pressure: in our incident response, the target for identifying the root cause is 10 minutes.

· Autonomy, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently.

· A desire to actively engage with the team in shaping the future direction of our digital services.
